I pray that you have a phenomenal day today
Stepping outside of the box is perfectly fine. Coloring outside the lines, being separate from the status quo, that is you and you do not need to apologize nor do you need to place yourself inside of the box that others tell you that you are supposed to be in. “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” This well-known children’s Sunday school song has a second line that says, “Hide it under a bushel, No! I’m gonna let it shine.” When we are created to shine and we dull our natural, God given shine down so we can appease others then we are doing ourselves a disservice. We are not allowing ourselves to be who we really are supposed to be and stifling our true nature can negativity affect our mental well-being. As followers of Jesus we are meant to shine our good, caring, and loving lights into our world to help others see glimpses of Jesus for themselves through our kind words, thoughtful gestures, and generous deeds. Still, despite our best intentions, there will always be people around us, often those who are jealous or simply angry people in general, who won’t agree with this sentiment. They tell us to turn off that light. They holler at us trying to say that our lights offend them or they say that it is not appropriate for us to shine our light around their environments. This is your light. This is how you are made to shine. This is how God’s hands created you to live fully outside of the dutifully appointed boxes and be who God truly made you to be. What makes your heart smile and what makes your spirit fly? What makes your soul get out of bed everyday and jump for joy? Whatever those things are choose to wake up everyday and do more of those things. We don’t want to drag our way through life just to see the end come up for us and when we get to Heaven God says to us, “Child, I created you with these gifts, dreams, and passions, why didn’t you choose to use them more?”
